Pre-Colonial Period
Early Inhabitants: Namibia has been inhabited for thousands of years by various indigenous groups, including the San (Bushmen), Damara, and Nama people. These groups were hunter-gatherers and pastoralists with distinct cultures and languages.
Bantu Migration: Around the 16th century, Bantu-speaking people, including the Ovambo and Herero, migrated into the region. They brought with them agricultural practices and established more structured communities.

Colonial Period

Independence and Modern Era
Independence Achieved: On March 21, 1990, Namibia finally achieved independence from South Africa following a United Nations-supervised transition. Sam Nujoma, the leader of SWAPO, became the first president of Namibia.
Post-Independence Challenges: The new government faced significant challenges, including addressing the legacies of apartheid, land redistribution, and economic development. Namibia adopted a democratic constitution and maintained political stability.
