Antigua and Barbuda is a twin-island nation located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It has a rich history marked by colonization, slavery, and eventual independence.

Early History
Pre-Columbian Era:
The islands were originally settled by Amerindian peoples. The earliest inhabitants were the Ciboney, followed by the Arawak, and later the Carib peoples.

European Exploration and Colonization
